Wild Side Guide: Alan Griggs

Alan Griggs is a producer/writer/reporter with Tennessee’s Wild Side. As an avid outdoorsman, he fills his role with us extremely well. He stories are among the most requested here at Wild Side.

As a career journalist, Alan has received most of broadcast journalism’s top awards including three Peabody awards (the broadcast equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize), a Dupont-Columbia citation for a documentary on the Ku Klux Klan, two National Headliner awards, the George Polk award, the Edward R. Murrow award for broadcast excellence, several Emmys, and the Robert F. Kennedy award for a year-long effort on race relations.

Alan enjoys teaching the next generation of journalists, proudly contributing at Nashville’s Lipscomb University as a Visiting Professor/Executive in Residence; he has also served as Associate Professor of Communications at Tennessee State University. Alan remains a Senior Consultant with the Institute for Crisis Management in Louisville, Kentucky, counseling companies in crisis preparation and management.

Mr. Griggs is the author of Flying Flak Alley: Personal Accounts of World War II Bomber Crew Combat. He resides in Nashville with his wife, Sandra.
